Southern Louisiana Artist Herman Ferrell Launches Online Gallery of Southern Art Prints

For decades, Herman Ferrell has painted scenes that capture the beauty and wonder of rural Louisiana and throughout the South. His paintings of shrimp boats, other boats including fishing boats and other common bayou imagery have been sold in galleries throughout the region and across the United States, but they're now available to a worldwide audience through Ferrell's new Web site, ferrellsartgallery.com.

(PRWEB) November 4, 2008 -- Herman Ferrell grew up in Southern Louisiana when it was easy to find old wooden shrimp boats throughout the coastal waters. Now that so many of those old vessels have been lost to hurricane Katrina, which battered the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, Ferrell and his stunningly accurate depictions of these watercraft are keeping their memories alive. Through his new Web site, ferrellsartgallery.com, the renowned artist hopes to reach new audiences and share a vision of the South that is becoming increasingly difficult to find.

Ferrell's deep love and appreciation for the outdoors and Cajun culture are evident in each of his southern art prints. His obvious passion and his penchant for painting shrimp boat art have made Ferrell's work highly desirable. His growing and award-winning collection is notably distinct from that of other southern artists because of Ferrell's unique and predominantly self-taught painting style.

For decades, his shrimp boat art was well known only within art collection communities around the world and throughout Louisiana. But after Hurricane Katrina put New Orleans and the rest of Louisiana in the national spotlight, appreciation for his Louisiana art began to expand to new audiences. The launch of ferrellsartgallery.com is a major part of Ferrell's strategy to continue this expansion.

"Art is life and life is art," explains Ferrell. "Everyday we awake and create what we're going to look like for the day, the way a person dress themself is creating their own art."

Although his works capture the feeling and soul, particularly with regards to his shrimp boat paintings and prints, Ferrell's artistic style has been called comfortable and relaxed because of the way the scenes tend to make the viewer feel. His Cajun art also depicts Louisiana and its scenery from a true local's perspective, offering new points of view on the region to others who rarely think of Louisiana beyond New Orleans' city limits.

"God was the first artist," says Ferrell. "I just try to share a little bit of that beauty with others to take it in themselves."

With ferrellsartgallery.com up and running, Ferrell plans to add new works of art to the site on a routine basis. For more information or to see or purchase Herman Ferrell's southern art prints, please visit ferrellsartgallery.com.
