This ceremony is just one example of how our community will continue to stand together during these trying times
Staten Island, NY (PRWEB) December 05, 2012
On Friday, December 7th from 6:30PM-8:30PM Councilman Vincent Ignizio, The South Shore LDC, Richmond County Savings Foundation and Staten Island Economic Development Corporation (SIEDC) present the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in the center of Annadale town.
This year, the event will feature a train ride for children, musical performances from St. Joseph-by-the-Sea H.S. and American Idol finalist Brielle Von Hugel, as well as a DJ and giveaways for the children. In addition, there will be a performance courtesy of Miss Caroline’s Dance School as well as the arrival of Santa Claus.
“Given what’s happened to Staten Island as of late, we are making this event bigger than it’s been in the past,” said Anthony Rapacciuolo, Executive Director of the South Shore LDC. “Bringing the community and businesses together will continue and strengthen our resolve as borough, and we would like to thank Decks R Us and Hudson Wealth Management for helping sponsor the ceremony.”
The SIEDC 40 Under 40 Leadership Group along with The Carl V. Bini Memorial Fund will be collecting toys that evening as well, which will directly benefit Staten Island families affected by Hurricane Sandy.
“The people and businesses of Staten Island have gone above and beyond to help those affected by the hurricane,” said Councilman Vincent Ignizio. “This ceremony is just one example of how our community will continue to stand together during these trying times.”
The Councilman will also speak about the recent installation of holiday lighting and the addition of 18 new banners adorning the towns of Annadale, Eltingville, and Great Kills courtesy of The South Shore LDC. The ceremony will conclude with the arrival of Santa Claus, as well as the official lighting of the tree by the Councilman and Assemblyman-elect, Joseph Borelli.
The event is free, and all are welcome to attend. For more information please contact Anthony Rapacciuolo at (718) 490-5023 or Ajr(at)PRcision(dot)com
