Fort Walton Beach, Florida (PRWEB) October 22, 2009
Northwest Florida has long been a popular beach destination, despite the limited air carrier service for this area. As a result, most travelers have had to drive to places like Destin, Panama City Beach, and Fort Walton Beach, making vacations there impractical for much of the country. But now Southwest Airlines has announced flights to Panama City Beach, landing at the newly named Northwest Florida - Panama City International Airport Airport. Panama City Southwest will have 8 daily flights, from various locations, beginning May, 2010.
Northwest Florida businesses focused on travel and tourism celebrate the news, especially ResortQuest, a provider of vacation homes and condominiums. Though ResortQuest offers vacation rentals all across the country, the largest percentage of properties the company manages is in Northwest Florida. The addition of Southwest Airlines to the region means more travelers will have easy access to ResortQuest vacation rentals, which means even more bookings for property owners.
"This area has so much to offer that it's only natural for Southwest Airlines to come here," say Park Brady, ResortQuest CEO. "We have some of the best beaches in the country, and so far that's been somewhat of a secret. But that's all about to change. Whereas we used to market almost exclusively to the southeast, now we can advertise nationwide knowing the Southwest Airlines can easily get travelers here."
ResortQuest's Panama City Beach area resorts include Seychelles, Tidewater, Sunrise, Palazzo, Celadon, Rosemary Beach, Seaside, High Pointe, Dunes of Seagrove and Gulf Place Caribbean, plus thousands more properties from Gulf Shores, Alabama to Panama City Beach.
ResortQuest's homeowners are also thrilled about the news. "Many homeowners that I've spoken to are just glad they've got a new, faster way to get to their vacation home," said Lino Maldonado, ResortQuest Vice President. "But every one of our homeowners realizes that more travelers mean more bookings. We are gearing up for a major increase in demand."
ResortQuest looks forward to working with Southwest Airlines. The Southwest Panama City Beach connection is sure to make Northwest Florida one of the most sought-after vacation destinations in North America.
