Atlanta Special Needs School Welcomed Director from Marcus Autism Center

Atlanta special needs school, Cumberland Academy of Georgia, received information and research from the leading institute of Autism and related disorders, the Marcus Center. Ms. Emily Rubin, Director of Educational Outreach, lent her time and expertise to staff of Cumberland Academy of Georgia.

Cumberland Academy of Georgia, Atlanta special needs school serving students with high-functioning Autism, Asperger’s, LD, ADD and ADHD, recently welcomed Emily Rubin, MS, CCC-SLP, Director of Educational Outreach for the Marcus Autism Center. The Marcus Autism Center, the nation’s leading center for clinical care and research for Autism and other disorders, chose Cumberland Academy of Georgia to share updated information and discuss future collaborative projects. The day was spent touring the school, observing students, and meeting with faculty members. Discussions centered on identifying essential components of comprehensive educational programs for children with Autism, including addressing challenges with social communication, emotional regulation, and appropriate learning techniques. “It was a very informative discussion,” said Ms. Debbi Scarborough, Founder and Headmaster of Cumberland Academy of Georgia. “We are committed to the highest education for our students as well as our staff. Our school utilizes the most current research from such organizations like the Marcus Center to effectively and successfully teach our students.”
