Now the new [app] version is live, and we are eager to let our readers—and potential readers—know about it.

AMERICA IN WWII magazine has uploaded a new version of its AMERICA IN WWII Special Issues app, resolving problems affecting readers using Apple iPads and iPhones running the latest operating system. Once again, says publisher Jim Kushlan, World War II enthusiasts can access the magazine’s special issues and all their features.
It was a year ago, says Kushlan, that AMERICA IN WWII magazine launched an app on the iTunes Newsstand, Google Play, and the Amazon Appstore. That, he says, made his publication the only WWII digital magazine available in the United States. A natural next step, he says, was to post an app offering the magazine’s 100-page special issues, which appear twice a year. Soon, an AMERICA IN WWII Special Issues app went live.
Late in the autumn of 2012, the app became outdated, and readers began experiencing difficulties accessing their special issues. “We were ready to upload a new app version,” says Kushlan, “but a misunderstanding with Apple put that on hold until January 2013. Apple helped resolve the problem. Now the new version is live, and we are eager to let our readers—and potential readers—know about it.”
Each year, AMERICA IN WWII publishes two stand-alone special issues on specific aspects of the US experience in World War II overseas and on the home front. Titles published so far include STARS IN WWII (winter 2010), WORLD WAR II TOP SECRET (summer 2011), PEARL HARBOR STORIES (winter 2011), HOME FRONT LIFE (spring 2012), and, most recently, GIs IN WORLD WAR II (fall 2012). These special issues are not part of a regular AMERICA IN WWII subscription.
The AMERICA IN WWII Special Issues app enables readers to subscribe to the twice-a-year special issues, or to purchase individual issues. Available through the app so far are PEARL HARBOR STORIES, HOME FRONT LIFE, and GIs IN WORLD WAR II. The spring 2013 special issue, AMERICAN AIR WAR: EUROPE, will be available through the app in March.
