M*Modal Announces Real-Time Speech Understanding Application for Healthcare Professionals Available on Apple iPhone

PITTSBURGH (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) November 20, 2008 -- M*Modal, a leader in advanced Speech Understanding technology, today announced the launch of AnyModal™ CDS Mobile on the Apple iPhone. AnyModal CDS Mobile makes real-time Speech Understanding services available on the iPhone so physicians will be able to improve patient care from anywhere at anytime.

“Pairing our innovative technology with the revolutionary iPhone will answer an unmet need,” said Michael Finke, CEO of M*Modal. “By incorporating vital patient data into highly accurate clinical documentation, more reports will be made available faster resulting in better patient care.”

News Image “The AnyModal CDS Mobile offers a true advance in capability by making it possible to capture real time validated clinical information using the clinicians’ voice processed by powerful, highly accurate server based Speech Understanding technology. Combining the breakthrough of the iPhone Multi-Touch user interface for command/control with the efficiency and convenience of speech is a superb example that is truly multi-modal.” said Walt Tetschner of Voice Information Associates, Inc.

While clinical dictation was possible before via telephone or PDA devices, the resulting report was not available for hours. AnyModal CDS Mobile delivers documents in real time to the physician’s iPhone, making it the first device to capture, understand and transcribe dictation in real-time. Physicians can now immediately review and sign off on a clinical document.

The company’s core product, AnyModal™ CDS (Conversational Documentation Services), based on a unique combination of proprietary speech recognition and natural language understanding technologies, turns clinical dictation directly into structured and encoded clinical documents.

The highly configurable, service-oriented architecture (SOA), paired with the platform independent set of thin client user interface components, enables M*Modal partners to incorporate AnyModal CDS into their workflow solutions.

M*Modal uses the software as a service (SaaS) application delivery model, independently hosting, operating and maintaining its software application in an off-site data center for customer use over the Internet. This structure allows for the pervasive use of the most advanced, highly accurate Speech Understanding service, whether physicians are relying on medical transcriptionists or editing documents themselves. Access is available from any PC connected to the internet via a secure connection. There is no need for on-site hardware and IT maintenance and support or timely upgrades.
