Spine Treatment Centers of America (Spine Treatment Centers) is pleased to announce that it will be working together with Dr. Donald Atkins in San Antonio, Texas. Spine Treatment Centers selects leading specialists in neurosurgery, orthopedic spine surgery and interventional pain management. Together, they are dedicated to helping advance the diagnosis and treatment of back pain through the latest procedures and minimally invasive surgical technologies.

Donald Atkins, M.D., board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, serves as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He is Co-Founder of Neurosurgical Associates of San Antonio and is dedicated to treating spinal and neurosurgical pathology.

Areas in which he specializes include minimally invasive spinal fusions, minimally invasive spinal technologies and surgical approaches, spinal tumors, spinal deformity, Failed Back Surgery Syndrome and adult scoliosis.

Dr. Atkins received his undergraduate degree in Economics at the University of Texas at Austin before embarking on his medical education. After receiving a medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, Dr. Atkins pursued a surgical internship at the Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center. This training was followed by a neurosurgery residency training program at the University of Tennessee-Memphis-Semmes-Murphey Clinic.

Dr. Atkins also served several years as Major in the US Army Medical Corps as Chief of Neurosurgery at BAMC.

In addition to his extensive teaching experience and clinical investigation work, Dr. Atkins has published and presented numerous medical research studies and papers.
