Rabbi Steven Fisdel, spiritual counselor, master Kabbalist & teacher, is announcing interactive, Kabbalah-based High Holy Day services. The services will take place during September at Berkeley’s La Quinta Inn, located at 920 University Ave.

“The services are designed to take participants through a spiritual process. I structure the services based on a Kabbalist (Jewish Mystical) format and perspective,” Rabbi Steven Fisdel said. “The learning and experiential elements are as central and prominent in our work together as the worship.”

Seating for each service is limited with advanced registration required. The services will take place on the eve of Rosh HaShanah on Sept. 16, from 7 to 9 p.m.; the morning of Rosh HaShanah on Sept. 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Tashlikh on Sept. 17, starting at 2 p.m. at the Emeryville pier; the eve of Yom Kippur on Sept. 25, from 7 to 9 p.m.; and the morning of Yom Kippur on Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rabbi Fisdel also will be doing Yizkor at 2 p.m., a study session and discussion at 3 p.m., and an afternoon and concluding service from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.

“Each service is comprised of roughly equal components of prayer (traditional and original liturgy, focused meditations, contemplation and chanting) and study (teachings, discussion, Q-and-A format, drashot and stories),” Rabbi Fisdel said.

The cost to attend both Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur is $225 for an individual and $400 for couples. Attending only Rosh HaShanah costs $100 and Yom Kippur costs $125. Advanced registration is required for all services.

The central theme for the services this year will be “Responding to God,” and people of all backgrounds are welcome.

Those interested in attending must register by contacting Rabbi Fisdel at 1-800-851-2495.
