Wipe Out Kids' Cancer (WOKC) Forms Partnership with Splash Media

Employees of Splash Media, one of the most experienced social media marketing companies in the United States, recently volunteered their time and talents to implement a social media campaign on behalf of Wipe Out Kids Cancer (WOKC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating pediatric cancer.

The social media campaign was designed to increase awareness of WOKC and its 26th annual Tom Thumb WOKC Run for the Children. Splash Media’s efforts reaped huge rewards for WOKC. The WOKC Facebook page registered a 170 percent increase in “Likes” over a four-week period, which culminated with a record 2822 Dallas runners and walkers participating in the 26th annual Tom Thumb WOKC Run for the Children. The event, which is part of the annual Oktoberfest family-friendly celebration, featured a one-mile Fun Run and a 5K over courses in the town of Addison.

“Due to the partnership of Wipe Out Kids' Cancer and Splash Media and the support of our sponsors, we saw an increase of over 15% in participation,” said Evelyn Costolo, CEO of Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer. “WOKC is thrilled with this success which takes us one day closer to our vision for a day when children are living cancer free.”

The money raised by the Tom Thumb WOKC Run for the Children, along with other fundraising events from 2011, will be used to fund pediatric cancer research and support local cancer patients and their families. Splash Media was proud to be involved in such a noble cause.

Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer (WOKC) is a Dallas-based nonprofit organization founded in 1980 dedicated to eradicating pediatric cancer by funding innovative research, education and treatment, while providing hope to children and families battling cancer. The money raised in 2011 will be used to help find a cure for this terrible disease and to investigate new treatment options by funding additional clinical research trials. The money will also provide funding for the WOKC Buddy Bag and Ambassador programs which provide hope and support to local pediatric cancer patients and their families.
