Splore, the dynamic new social platform that connects like-minded individuals to take action, announces its participation in the University of South Florida Polytechnic’s incubator program, Blue Sky.
Currently in beta form, Splore will be used across the university and by local communities to test and refine features and functionality.
With Splore, users tap into a wealth of shared knowledge and connect with other users and experts to achieve goals. While social networking giants like Facebook work with the user’s existing community, Splore centers on common interests and connects people who would not otherwise have occasion to meet.
Splore users create, collaborate and achieve goals through the site’s innovative “splores.” Splores connect people with common interests and can be further refined by a specific location. Upon finding a splore that interests them, users can join that splore and contribute to the activity. Users can also create their own splores, and can invite others to participate in their splores.
Splore is integrated with Facebook, so that users can work with their existing networks to get started. Currently users join Splore through their Facebook account.
In addition to Facebook integration, however, Splore features a powerful matching system to link users together, thereby expanding the user’s network of available resources.

Splore responds to increased concerns about online privacy by placing control directly in the user’s hands. Splore users control how much or how little personal information they choose to share with the community. Splore’s commitment to user privacy distinguishes Splore from other available sites.
Ivey continues, “Splore believes strongly that most individuals are looking for a greater sense of security—a clear ability to create safe venues to interact with entirely new communities, and do so without fear of abuse or harm. You control what you splore, who you splore with, and the nature of those collaborations.”
The concept of Sploring was originally conceived by co-founders Larry and Evelyn Padgett, who teamed with CEO Shawn Ivey to start the company in June, 2010.
Students participating in the Blue Sky program will help Splore determine which features provide the greatest value to users and help the site focus its efforts on creating a powerful new way to make social networking meaningful.
As the site grows, Splore will expand its functionality to integrate with sites like Twitter, LinkedIn and Google, while refining the reputation economy in the system. Such features will include peer ratings and an original “Splore IQ,” to help minimize abuse and increase the value of the site to users.
Ivey anticipates a fruitful collaboration with the Blue Sky program to revolutionize goal-oriented social intelligence.
