Updates to Student Progress Monitoring System(R) Will Further Help Students Receive Individual Remediation and Instruction

Just in time for the new school year, Vantage Learning has enhanced the Student Progress Monitoring System® to further help students learn and master classroom skills and concepts. The formative assessment and Adaptive Learning Platform™ allows educators to manage curriculum, instruction and measurement while providing students with Personalized Adaptive Learning Plans™ that target learning and remediation based on individual needs.

SPMS automatically “adapts” to the needs of each student by delivering personalized educational content, and to each educator by providing specific information regarding the impact of teaching and intervention.

The Student Progress Monitoring System®, the formative assessment and Adaptive Learning Platform™ from trusted industry leaders Vantage Learning, has enhanced its capabilities to help students learn and master classroom skills and concepts. SPMS is advancing the learning process for students by allowing them to direct their own education, while aligning services for teachers and administrators to manage learning programs, differentiation and measurement.

The platform—which can also be used for benchmarking, computer adaptive and linear and summative assessments—instantly delivers educative resources based on strand-level diagnostics. These resources are differentiated based on multiple indicators from within the student’s profile. Centered on a student’s unique deficiencies, SPMS automatically provides each student with a Personalized Adaptive Learning Plan™. This PALP™ is a needs-based prescription that targets learning and remediation. Students receive dynamic learning opportunities in the form of re-teaching videos, practice exercises and knowledge evaluations. If a student needs additional help, he will receive new, yet still targeted, activities to help him meet and exceed learning expectations.

“Though teachers are the best intervention for students, large class sizes and time constraints limit the ability for educators to provide personalized intervention to each child,” said Keith Webster, President of Vantage Learning. “With the adaptive nature of the platform, SPMS helps students master necessary skills—instead of just going through empty motions. The platform supports data-driven instruction by aiding educators in identifying instructional priorities and setting goals. From there, they can evaluate instructional effectiveness, assess readiness for high-stakes testing and facilitate information sharing with parents and other stakeholders.”

For teachers and administrators, SPMS manages curriculum, instruction and all types of assessment, whether at the district, school or classroom level. SPMS helps educators drive one-to-one instruction in order to reduce the lag time between assessments and learning. While Intelligent Agents™ automatically “adapt” to the needs of each student by delivering personalized educational content, these agents also provide educators with specific information regarding the impact of teaching and intervention. From actionable assessment data, teachers know their specific classroom needs and are provided with meaningful targets.

The Adaptive Learning Pathways™ in SPMS are currently available for Math and Reading for grades four–12 and college. Many can also be purchased on a per-classroom basis via SPMS Classroom, a direct-to- educator platform for measuring group performance against a Common Core-aligned test bank.
