Fans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers can now play ‘Save Your Mate', the new social game just released on the team’s official Facebook page. The Buccaneers Facebook game is a first-of-its kind application in the NFL and pro sports marketing.
The game, developed by Sportsdigita, aims to drive social media interaction and enhance the team's online branding effort with a custom Buccaneers theme. Save Your Mate leverages the viral nature of the web and social media by giving fans the chance to invite and compete against their friends.
The application challenges fans with mini-games that must be completed in order to save five chosen Facebook friends from walking a virtual plank. If successful, the fan can then enter for a chance to win autographed prizes from a team sweepstakes.
