Crossing the Chasm

Today, our technologies can bring the near real time experience of climbing the highest summit in the world through the eyes of one of the best guides in the world.

Sportsideo, the rapidly growing sports community, is carrying video coverage and interviews from Mt. Everest starting today, Friday, April 20th, through May 25th. Video from the Everest expedition and Sportsideo’s interviews with Alpine Ascents’ guide, Garrett Madison, will be seen on Sportsideo.com throughout the approximate 5 weeks of the climb to Everest’s summit.    Madison, one of the world’s most renowned climbers, is guiding 8 climbers up Mt. Everest.

"Sportsideo is very excited to have the opportunity to share the real, on the ground experiences of climbers during one of the most challenging and daunting feats in all of Sports,” said Steve Vesce, Managing Director of Sportsideo, LLC. “Climbing Mt. Everest is the challenge and ultimate experience for every person who participates in sports – whatever his or her favorite sport may be. Alpine Ascents International is one of the most renowned Mountain Climbing Organizations in the world, and to experience the climb with the help of Garrett Madison, one of the best climbers in the world, is a truly remarkable opportunity for everyone who has ever wondered what it would be like to climb to the top of the world,” added Vesce.

Gordon Janow, Director of Programs and one of the Founding Members of Alpine Ascents International commented “We are really excited to work with Sportsideo to deliver video from Everest to a global sports community.    Those of us in the Climbing community are really excited to be able to share the power and impact of the Everest climb with all participants in sports. Today, our technologies can bring the near real time experience of climbing the highest summit in the world through the eyes of one of the best guides in the world to the desk top of virtually any person in the world. This is a very exciting opportunity to share one of the world’s most unique and challenging experiences.”

With the help of video technology provided by Flixwagon, Garrett Madison will capture video during the expedition and share that experience with Alpine Ascents and Sportsideo's community. “Every young or older person who has ever dreamed about the climbing Mt. Everest will have the chance to experience the climb through the eyes of one of the world’s great climbers”, said Vesce. “While we all recognize that there are many obstacles during an event such as Everest, Flixwagon’s portable video technology will enable Garrett Madison to record and deliver some of the greatest moments in sports as they are happening. If all goes as planned, we will ultimately be able to share video and interview the team during the climb and while they stand at the summit of Mt. Everest,” Vesce concluded.

Arie Offner, Managing Director of Flixwagon commented "the Mt. Everest climb is a great example of the human spirit that is constantly looking for challenges in the mental, physical or technology dimension. The Flixwagon platform was designed and developed in this spirit of challenging what was conceived as the impossible. We are therefore delighted that our technology will help share the exciting climbing experience with Sportsideo’s community."
