The Springboard Academy, a Seattle-based professional development company that helps companies achieve a competitive edge, today announced that author and serial entrepreneur Tom Eckmann is headlining its upcoming November 8 PowerTalk, “Is Owning Your Own Business Your Next Career Step?” Eckmann, the author of An Intrepreneur’s Journey: The Birth of a ‘New Economy’ Business, brings his 35 years of entrepreneurial experience creating successful start-up companies to share the essentials of starting a business, and tips for ensuring its success.
“A lot of people are looking for career alternatives in this recovering economy, and many are thinking about starting their own businesses,” said Eckmann. “There are critical questions that they should ask themselves and their business ideas before they dive in. I hope to share my experiences to help them avoid some real pitfalls and get off to a successful start.”
Eckmann is a lecturer at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business, teaching classes in entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial decision-making to graduate and undergraduate students. He is also a business plan judge for the Environmental Innovation Challenge, Executive MBA competition, and the annual Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship program. Solopreneur Institute is now part of the Springboard Academy.
“We are thrilled that Tom is sharing his wealth of knowledge with people in the Seattle area,” said Margo Myers, Springboard Academy Executive Director. “Our PowerTalks are designed for people to gain valuable information from accomplished business experts, and have an opportunity to ask them questions that they might otherwise, not be able to do.”
