Many companies have strong security requirements such as SSH or FIPS 140-2. GSW undertook a purposed and specific development effort to provide a certified "End to End" FIPS 140-2 SSH Server and Client software to the United States Military because no solution existed. Having completed this task, Georgia SoftWorks is able to make this software commercially available to other Federal and State agencies as well as educational and research institutions, commercial businesses and other entities that need to comply with this security requirement for cryptographic modules standard.
"The Georgia SoftWorks SSH Server with the Certified FIPS option may be a crucial element in your enterprise access compliance strategy to combat the onslaught of new and growing security threats," said Brian Butler. "This option increases security while speeding the time to compliance."
The Georgia SoftWorks solution provides both client and server certification ensuring END to END compliance. "Both of the endpoints of the SSH connection must be created using FIPS 140-2 certified software which requires that FIPS 140-2 certified SSH client software (not just FIPS 140-2 certified device's operating system) is used as well as having a FIPS 140-2 certified SSH server,” said Luke Batko, Chief Engineer at Georgia SoftWorks, "Without these two components it is not a certified end to end solution."
The GSW SSH Server for Windows with Certified FIPS option is available for purchase to owners of the GSW SSH Server version 7.50 and higher. It may be purchased at the same time as the SSH Server or it may be obtained later. The Georgia SoftWorks Windows FIPS compliant SSH Server, includes the certified clients, at no extra cost. Adding the FIPS certified option to the GSW SSH server requires no additional server configurations and there is no production down-time when implementing.
Established in 1991, Georgia SoftWorks is a privately held software development company recognized for creating high performance data communications, system and telecommunications applications. Georgia SoftWorks has obtained a worldwide presence with its industrial SSH/Telnet Server for Microsoft Windows. GSW's long-term commitment to SSH/Telnet has led to the pioneering of major features such as Session Shadowing, Session Monitoring, Graceful Termination, Automatic Logon, Logon Scripting and Team Services technology which allows mobile device users to transfer, swap, share and recover mobile device sessions and more recently Certificate to User Account Mapping tool for configuring Digital Certificate Authentication.
