StackIQ today announced the immediate availability of StackIQ Enterprise Data, the first complete Apache Hadoop cluster solution for the enterprise. Powered by Hortonworks Data Platform, and building on StackIQ’s Big Infrastructure management software, the new product provides all of the software needed to build and manage Hadoop clusters right from bare metal. Hortonworks Data Platform, a 100 percent open source platform powered by Apache Hadoop, makes Hadoop easy to consume and use in enterprise environments.
With everything needed for provisioning, deploying, and managing a Hadoop cluster, StackIQ Enterprise Data is designed to meet the needs of IT managers who need to deploy and manage Hadoop in their data centers. As part of a reseller agreement with Hortonworks StackIQ announced last month StackIQ Enterprise Data is available with enterprise-grade support, making it the ideal solution for mission-critical data management applications.
“We’re very excited to be able to offer the first complete Hadoop solution that is fully supported and backed by the deep domain expertise of Hortonworks,” said Joe Markee, CEO of StackIQ. “By combining our extensive Hadoop management software with the Hortonworks Data Platform, we’re now able to offer a comprehensive solution that will take our customers from proof-of-concept through production and scale-out.”
StackIQ Enterprise Data includes the most popular and essential Apache Hadoop projects including the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), MapReduce, HBase, and Zookeeper. It is ready to install and configure using StackIQ’s industry-leading cluster management solution. Also included is StackIQ’s Hadoop management software, which lets you configure, monitor, and manage the deployed Hadoop cluster. Now you can have everything you need to build and maintain a Hadoop solution in one package.
“We’re thrilled to have StackIQ as a launch partner for Hortonworks Data Platform,” said Ari Zilka, Chief Products Officer at Hortonworks. “StackIQ’s Cluster Manager represents the most complete provisioning and management platform the Apache Hadoop community has ever seen.”
“Using StackIQ Enterprise Data, we were able to deploy Thrax, one of our cutting-edge applications used for machine translation, in far less time than other solutions," said Scott Roberts of The Human Language Technology Center of Excellence at The Johns Hopkins University. "Since then, the StackIQ management software has allowed us to quickly and easily maintain Hadoop.”
