The reviews are in - JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa is a STAR on the silver screen. Starr Pass, a luxury resort and spa in Tucson, Arizona, was recently featured in the Sam Mendes comedy, "Away We Go," starring John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph. The movie has generated buzz and interest in the amazing desert landscape of Southern Arizona. Adventure seekers and discerning travelers alike are flocking to Tucson to visit and explore a number of noteworthy Southern Arizona sites located in and around Starr Pass.

"Away We Go" follows the journey of an expectant couple (Krasinski and Rudolph) as they travel across the United States in search of a place to settle and raise a family. Starr Pass Resort & Spa stars in the movie as the resort where Rudolph's character's sister works as a hotel executive. "Away We Go" is now playing in Tucson at the Century 20 Theater at El Con Mall.

"Away We Go" premiered in New York City on June 1 at the Sunshine Theatre. JW Marriott Starr Pass representatives attended and treated several clients to the star-studded Big Apple premiere.

Tom Wallace, vice president of marketing for the Council on Litigation Management, attended the premier on behalf of Starr Pass.

He noted, "I had a truly wonderful time. The movie was very well done and the after-party was great fun - a completely new experience for me. I particularly enjoyed meeting other attendees and the stars of the movie. One of the movie's stars, Allison Janney, was extremely easy to talk to and very friendly. I loved every minute of it and couldn't be more grateful to Starr Pass for letting me share in this amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience."

While at JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa, filming focused on four areas of the resort: the resort's front drive, Starr Circle; a resort boardroom, which was transformed into an office; Salud's patio (pictured below); and the main lobby. Salud is the outdoor bar and terrace at Starr Pass, which features a ceremonial tequila toast every evening at 5:30 p.m.

"We were delighted to bring Hollywood back to Tucson and to have the opportunity to work with such a talented director and cast. After enjoying the movie at the premiere, we believe the property was a perfect match for the film. We truly had an incredible experience and were so pleased to be able to share it with some of our clients," said Matt Brody, Director of Marketing at Starr Pass.

Since 1925, hundreds of movies and movie scenes have been filmed in and around Tucson. The film industry has relied on the Southwest desert to provide stunning vistas and charming locales to feature films of every genre.
