Assurance, one of the largest independent insurance brokerages, has just launched its online Startup Business Center. With over 27 million small businesses in the U.S., and new ones forming each day, Assurance created this site as a one-stop-shop for business owners who have questions on their current or future insurance needs. The online business center serves as a comprehensive resource to help businesses grow from startup ideas to successful emerging enterprises.

The site provides a timeline for the insurance process and then dives into the role of an insurance broker, questions to ask him or her and various insurance terms to be familiar with. For those looking to start a business, there are sections on insurance coverages mandated by law, business owner policies and employee benefits. Current small business owners can seek risk management advice and visit the “Insurance Considerations as You Grow” section. There are also links to FAQs sorted by industry, the different state departments of insurance and other educational materials, such as newsletters and webinars.

“We created the Startup Business Center to answer important insurance questions we get asked everyday by small business owners across the country,” said Steven Handmaker, Chief Marketing Officer and Practice Leader of the Specialty Commercial division at Assurance. He continued, “We wanted one place they could visit to learn about risks and exposures they might not have thought about, but should be aware of. Most importantly, we hope this education provides a backdrop to a personal relationship.”

While everyone’s insurance issues and concerns are hard to anticipate, Assurance hopes the Startup Business Center will serve as a first line resource to stimulate ideas. If a business owner is in the midst of a launch, experiencing growth or has a specific concern, a link to specialized insurance professionals is available on the site for further consultation and insurance services.
