State Farm® Insurance Companies has kicked off Friday Night Feats, a national high school football video contest on YouTube to showcase the biggest moments from this year's high school football season. Fans and athletes can win up to $15,000 for their high school by submitting a video and encouraging their fans to watch and rate it. The contest begins Sept. 14 with the grand prize winners - as voted by the fans - being named the week of Dec. 14.
"We're looking for the biggest hits, electrifying catches and other astonishing plays from communities with a passion for high school football," said Anthony Munoz, Hall of Famer and former pro football lineman who is returning as the face of the contest for 2009."This year State Farm will be there for more schools by awarding $160,000 for the biggest moments on the gridiron," said Munoz.
The contest is open anyone who submits a video as long as all eligibility requirements are met. It can be a player, parent, coach, teacher, student or fan. Official rules can be found on the contest rules page on the site, as well as a tip sheet with ideas on how to promote video entries and encourage fans to view and rate them on YouTube.
Video submission period
Videos will be accepted during two submission periods - the first half and second half of the contest. The first half is Sept. 14 until Oct. 17 and the second is Oct. 18 until Nov. 22.
Viewers determine the 26 semi-finalists from each half, 56 total, by voting with YouTube star ratings on the Friday Night Feats YouTube channel. A panel of qualified judges will narrow the semi-finalists down to the top 10 videos. Viewers have the final say and chose the first and second place and the grand prize winner by voting for their favorite on YouTube Dec. 3 until Dec.10.
Each video is judged on the "wow" factor, athleticism, impact of the play, and creativity of the video, which will include a title and brief description of the play.
Cash prizes are $15,000 for the grand prize, $10,000 for first place and $5,000 for second place. Each finalist nominee (four from each of State Farm's 13 zones) wins $2,500. All prize money will be awarded to respective schools.
