State and Federal Poster Inc. Clarifies Recent Changes of the Unemployment Benefits and the Discrimination Notice of the Wisconsin Labor Law Poster

A current address is now required under the Unemployment Benefits section. Wisconsin's Discrimination notice has also added a following reason to the unlawful to discriminate against list which was, “Declining to attend a meeting or participate in any communication about religious or political matters." The added portion of Wisconsin Unemployment Benefit was to include a valid address. This is because important documents about a claim can be mailed and must be received. Also if the address has been changed then it must be notified by a post office and must be changed as well. Below the section of "Have This Information Ready" also includes another section called, "For a complete list of our telephone service numbers and more information about unemployment insurance, visit our website: http://unemployment.wisconsin.gov". These are the following things that have been added, they have added a phone number to the "Claims Specialist", Madison: 608-232-0824, Milwaukee: 414-438-7713, and a Toll-Free number: 1-800-494-4944. Also a website has been updated in the "How to Apply" section which is now http://unemployment.wisconsin.gov. These are the many changes that have been done to the Wisconsin labor law poster and must be updated and posted now.

Wisconsin statutes provides that it is unlawful for employers, employment agencies, labor unions and licensing agencies to discriminate against employees and job applicants. The Discrimination (Fair Employment Law) Law recently added the "Declining to attend a meeting or participate in any communication about religious or political matters". This means that if an employee refuses to attend a meeting or participate in communications the employer can not terminate or take adverse action against the employee's refusal. However, this new law prohibits an employer from offering meetings or communications about religious or political matters only if the attendance in communication is strictly voluntary. Any adverse action taken to the employee for refusing to attend such meeting is now illegal discrimination under Wisconsin's Fair Employment Act.
