New StationersGuild Website Helps Buyers Find Qualified Stores for Custom Invitations, Announcements and Fine Stationery

The StationersGuild website helps online buyers find qualified stores in their neighborhood who sell custom invitations and announcements and personalized social and business stationery. The website provides relevant and timely information on cutting-edge fine paper companies, trends in custom invitations and announcements, paper designs, printing processes and the leading stores in your neighborhood who sell these fine papers. Why settle for low resolution online images when you can feel the paper and receive expert advice from qualified local stationers?

Greenwich, CT (PRWEB) October 31, 2008 -- The newly launched StationersGuild.org website provides the online buyer with relevant and timely information on fine papers, custom invitations, business and social stationery and the leading independent dealers in the United States and Canada who represent these fine paper collections.

The Guild website was organized, funded and developed by independent stationery stores who believe that personalized stationery and custom invitations are best marketed in person. Says Founding Member Sheila May, "selecting fine stationery or crafting a custom wedding invitation is far more challenging and exciting than populating an online template. The feel of the paper is as important as the design and ink colors tend to change depending on the printing process used for ones invitation or stationery. As stationers, we expose our clients to many fine paper collections and customization options that are simply not possible to replicate in the online medium."

The StationersGuild website is organized to provide online buyers with a wealth of information on fine paper collections and many specialty designers whose products are only sold through qualified store-front dealers. The website is supplemented by new information on emerging trends in the industry from the StationersGuild News Center. The message to online buyers is relatively simple: "Research online, but shop locally. Guild member stores have the experience, range of products and service quality to make your shopping experience more worthwhile. Don't sacrifice apparent convenience for expertise and service quality."

Membership in the Stationers Guild is open to qualified independent dealers who operate through a legitimate storefront and are recommended by another Guild member or sponsoring advertiser. Guild members pay annual membership dues to be listed on the Guild website. These dues together with other advertising revenue are used to pay for the operating and promotional expenses of the website. Leading fine paper companies such as Crane & Co., Encore Studios, Lallie, Luscious Verde, Press New York, Smock and William Arthur are featured as advertisers on the Guild website to promote their brands through their dealer networks.

The StationersGuild website is organized into five major categories to facilitate navigation: stationery, wedding papers, custom invitations, baby announcements and holiday cards. Within each category, the online buyer can drive down for additional detail into such sub-categories as business cards, holiday photo cards, bridal showers and many other subject areas. Over 60 leading fine paper companies are represented on the Guild website with hyperlinks to the each company's website. Most importantly, a map search feature imbedded in the website from Google Maps© permits the online buyer to locate Guild member stores within a 25, 50 and 100 mile search radius of their town or zip code.

Storefront owners have been slow to recognize the importance of online search. The StationersGuild website hopes to rectify this situation by providing the online buyer with relevant information on stationery and invitations that is simply not available under one umbrella anywhere on the internet. Unlike most online stationery sites, wedding portals and online printers, the Guild website does not sell online. In fact, given the low-resolution internet images, the online buyer "sees" a seriously compromised image of fine papers and the craftsmanship involved in making them. Visitors to the Guild website are encouraged to visit a member store in their neighborhood to handle real paper samples, see different designs and printing options and, most importantly, get expert advice to help customize their invitation or stationery.

As of today, 290 stores are listed on the Guild website. Approximately 40 are Founding Members. Their active participation in this project was instrumental in helping to launch the Guild website. The site was designed by Inguna Trepsa of Ante Meridiem Design.
