PostSecret is a popular ongoing community mail-art project in which people mail their secrets anonymously on a homemade postcard and has delivered over 20,000 votes in the last 24 hours. Frank Warren will host from 6-7:30 PM. Warren and the PostSecret Community have been longtime supporters of The Kristin Brooks Hope Center and suicide prevention. To Write Love on Her Arms Founder Jamie Tworkowski will host from 5PM – 6PM to share with the world the need for an online crisis counseling network to prevent suicide, bullying and self injury.
The Kristin Brooks Hope Center - founder of 1-800-SUICIDE - has partnered with To Write Love on Her Arms and PostSecret.com to launch the IMAlive.com an online crisis support network this year. If the Kristin Brooks Hope Center wins the $250,000 first-place prize, 100% of the proceeds will go directly toward the launch of IMAlive. Among other initiatives, the new program will help launch a peer-to-peer online support network for U.S. military veterans and active duty personnel.
The Kristin Brooks Hope Center (http://www.hopeline.com) is a non-profit organization founded in 1998 after the tragic death of founder Reese Butler’s wife, Kristin, by suicide. From the beginning, Butler and the Hope Center have been dedicated to suicide prevention by providing easy access to a large network of crisis line workers while helping break down the stigma and other barriers to accessing help and hope.
