Guests at St Jude Retreats learn that independent research has shown that addiction is actually habitual thinking, choices and actions, and as such they do have the power to change.
Amsterdam, NY (PRWEB) October 26, 2012
The St Jude Retreats is proud to announce an 87% completion rate for guests over a 10 month period in 2012 , at the original and most affordable retreat house, the Twin Rivers Retreat. An 87% percent completion rate is well above the national average of 47% as reported by a 2006 study by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), making this alternative to alcohol treatment programs 85% more effective than the majority of traditional treatment methods including hospital residential treatment, detoxification, and short-term and long-term residential treatment. The St Jude Retreats has successfully maintained nearly an 80% overall program completion rate over the past five years and continues to make significant improvements.
Executive Director, Michelle Dunbar, states, “In order for people to gain the greatest benefit from any program they must first be motivated to complete it. Providing a comfortable and safe environment conducive to making lasting life changes is a priority at St Jude’s."
The record high completion rate at the Twin Rivers Retreat, which is where the non 12 step program was first offered in 1992, is a result of extensive training, hard work and dedication of the retreat house staff. The Twin Rivers Retreat is a third of the cost of a traditional rehab program, which can average anywhere from $30,000 to $100,000 per 30 day stay. The St Jude Program, hosts guests for a six week comprehensive program that is not treatment but rather an educational process where guests learn exactly how to transform their own lives. The program is designed to empower guests to take control of their lives. This is in direct contrast to treatment programs who focus on the notion that addiction renders people powerless to make different choices and change. Guests learn that independent research has shown that addiction is actually habitual thinking, choices and actions, and as such they do have the power to change.
The Twin Rivers Retreat is one of three retreat houses that offer the St Jude Program. The St Jude Program proudly offers financing options as well financial assistance and a scholarship program for those who qualify to make the program affordable to anyone. The program has expanded in the past decade and will soon offer a comprehensive Saint Jude Family Program.
The St Jude Retreats is a non-disease, non-treatment based drug and alcohol program implementing proprietary methodology called Cognitive Behavioral EducationSM(CBE). The program is the only effective alternative to alcohol rehab and drug treatment centers in the United States. The program is endorsed by internationally acclaimed professionals and addiction research authors such as Prof. Emeritus David Hanson, PhD; Prof. David Rudy, PhD; Dr. Joy Browne and the late Joseph Vacca, PhD, among others.
