St. Louis City Chooses Daston and Google Apps for Government

We look forward to working closely with Google and Daston Corporation, our Google Apps Premier Reseller, to complete the migration in the next few months said St. Louis Mayor Francis G. Slay.

Daston Corporation, a provider of customized Software-as-a–Service and Cloud (SaaS|Cloud) computing technology solutions, today announced that the City of St. Louis has awarded Daston a contract to supply and implement Google Apps for Government.

Under the contract, Daston will provide Google’s cloud-based e-mail messaging and collaboration solutions and related implementation services to help the city migrate from its out-dated email and communication system. The new Google Apps implementation will provide the city’s roughly 2000 email users with a more cost-effective, accessible and secure solution.

“One of our government’s top priorities is serving the citizens of St. Louis better and more efficiently,” said Francis G. Slay, Mayor of St. Louis. “In these challenging budget times, we look to modern technologies to do more with less. After evaluating seven competitive bids, we selected Google Apps for Government for our city employees, primarily because it best suits our needs for a reliable, secure and cost-effective email system.”

Google Apps for Government offers a state-of-the-art email system that provides 50X the storage of a typical inbox, while dramatically lowering total cost of ownership. The solution incorporates the latest messaging and collaboration technologies and some of the best practices in the industry for datacenter management, network application security, and data integrity.

“Our Daston Cloud-First professional services team has helped many state and local governments move away from on-premise solutions to enjoy the productivity, cost-savings, and enhanced security provided by Google Apps for Government, and we are honored to support the City of St. Louis as it modernizes its operations and embraces cloud-based technology,” said Michael Pait, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Daston.

Mayor Slay added: “We look forward to working closely with Google and Daston Corporation, our Google Apps Premier Reseller, to complete the migration in the next few months. We are proud that the Gateway to the West is now going to the cloud.”

Google Apps for Government is available via Daston’s GSA IT 70 schedule and via Apps.Gov. For more information, contact Michael Pait at Daston at (703) 962-8085.
