Designers No Longer Limited to Stock Photography

New website offers photographers a way to sell services directly to designers.

Denver,CO (PRWEB) September 15, 2006 -- Spending hours sifting through thousands of stock photos, only to come up short, may be a thing of the past.

Overpaying for royalty free images only to find out that your competitor used the same photo won't happen to users of a new website that connects professional photographers with designers.

Pawel Mastalerz created Image by Request out of frustration with the current model for finding images on line.

Mastslerz said that the average cost of hiring an assignment photographer is around $2000. Image By Request customers often save as much as 90% of what they would otherwise have to pay for a photography assignment.

Image By Request allows designers, art directors, editors, book and magazine publishers, advertising agencies, or anyone seeking a specific piece of creative, to post a request at its website, www.imagebyrequest.com. Then, photographers from around the world bid on supplying that image. Photographers can ask questions and even upload sample images for the buyer to see.

“The idea for Image By Request came to me after several unsuccessful attempts at locating a specific photograph,” said Mastalerz. “Browsing countless stock photography sites was not only time consuming, but also seldom resulted in finding the specific image that I had in mind.”

At any point in time the buyer can accept a bid from the artist of their choice. Then, the buyer and photographer are put in touch to arrange payment and finalize the transaction. It's that simple. Best of all, the service is absolutely free. To see a complete list of current image requests and bids, visit the: Image By Request Photo Search results page.

So far, the response has been outstanding, with many image requests receiving 10 or more bids from individual photographers.

“The customer base is pretty wide. It includes individual designers, small businesses, design agencies, as well as corporations trying to reduce costs,” said Mastslerz.

“The feedback received has also been very positive. A number of customers looking for specific photos or illustrations have been able to obtain it in less time and at a fraction of the cost. Feedback from photographers has also been very positive,” he added.

One such photographer, Krzysztof Gapys, said, “I came across the Image By Request website and loved it immediately. I personally sell through stock agencies, where you have little chance to earn a living. ”

He said that he no longer has to wait for sales from stock photography agencies.

“Freelance photographers, like myself, try to find projects in as many places as possible. I was looking for a service where I can find people looking for projects to be done. The website is fast, the customer contact is great and, most importantly, this is the only place of its kind. I have been using the service for over a month now and am surprised how many other people are using it too.”
