“Our Firm is representing numerous clients in Stryker hip lawsuits that have been filed in this litigation. We are pleased that this proceeding is moving forward so efficiently,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm’s Stryker hip lawyers continue to offer free legal evaluations to individuals who have suffered serious complications, allegedly related to the Stryker hip recall for Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems.
Stryker Hip Recall Litigation
The Stryker hip recall was announced in July 2012, after Stryker received data that the Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems were subject to a high rate of corrosion at the modular-neck junction. The metal debris shed as a result of this action can put patients at risk for pain, swelling, and premature failure of the implant. Stryker has recommended that all patients fitted with Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems undergo blood tests for elevated metal ion levels, as well as cross sectional imaging, regardless of their symptoms. *
According to court documents, more than 600 Stryker hip lawsuits have been filed in courts around the country since the announcement of the Rejuvenate and ABG II recall. In addition to more than 380 currently pending in the New Jersey proceeding, some 290 Stryker hip recall claims been filed in a federal multidistrict litigation underway in U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota. All of these lawsuits involve similar allegations regarding the propensity of the recalled components to cause metallosis, necrosis, osteolysis, and other complications that result in failure of the hip.
Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stem recipients who allegedly suffered serious complications due to these components may be eligible to file a Stryker hip lawsuit seeking compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering if they developed complications allegedly related to the Stryker recall.
