HomeStay International is bridging the gap between different cultures by finding host homes for exchange students who are studying abroad.

HomeStay International is currently seeking new host homes to add to its expanding student exchange program. Students come from all over the world to enhance their study of the English language by living in an American home. ELS Language Centers teaches out of the Incarnate Word University and other universities in San Antonio.

Student exchange programs are the most common way for high school and college students to live, study and work abroad. Students live with host families or on college campuses, where they are exposed to the host country’s culture and language. It’s an opportunity for students to visit and live in different countries and gain crucial experiences and skills for later on in their careers.

There are many benefits for everyone involved in the HomeStay program. From broadening each other’s culture, values, language and foods to giving a student a chance to explore and discover American social customs, both the student and the host will gain a life-long friendship. For those that have ever considered opening their doors and becoming a host family, HomeStay International can provide the resources needed to get started.

Host homes must be preferably less than 30 minutes travel time from local universities. Host homes are compensated with a stipend per four-week session per student. English must be the primary language spoken in the home. Host homes are responsible for providing students with their own bedroom, as well as breakfast and dinner.

HomeStay will compensate up to $650 a month to host an international student. More information is available by contacting them at (210) 704-7140 or by visiting
