Clinic participants will learn basic skills and get a first-hand look at how the pros play. The youth clinic is open to athletes age 8-14 and will be organized by age and position.
The coaches’ clinic and “chalk talk” will be held with coaches from the tournament for local youth coaches. The coaches will discuss strategy, practice plans and recruiting. There is a requested donation of $25 to attend the coaches’ clinic. Both clinics will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The Division I collegiate men’s lacrosse tournament features top lacrosse teams from Cornell University, Johns Hopkins University, Penn State University and the University of North Carolina. The Landon School hosts the Capital Lacrosse Invitational with all proceeds going to The Mario St. George Boiardi Foundation. The Mario St. George Boiardi Foundation was founded in memory of Mario St. George Boiardi, a Landon and Cornell alumni and lacrosse player who was passionate about academics and athletics. The foundation continues Boiardi’s legacy by donating to charitable organizations that encourage youth through academics and athletics. Additionally, the Foundation has created a Summer Camp Program which provides financial assistance to deserving middle school students who wish to attend summer camps focused on academic, athletic, or other educational pursuits.
“STX is proud to sponsor the Capital Lacrosse Invitational and support our elite college partners,” said Greg Tate, Men’s Marketing Manager at STX. “The tournament gives back to a cause that STX supports and believes in.
