Baltimore-based STX, LLC, a global sporting goods leader, announced today its sponsorship of the STX Match Play Tournament during Baltimore’s College Golf Weekend hosted by Towson University. The three-day tournament will be held Sept. 8-10.
STX sponsors the Men’s STX Match Play Tournament where players from Towson, Rutgers, George Mason, Bethune-Cookman, Fairfield, Fairleigh-Dickinson, Stevenson and California University of Pennsylvania will compete. Seven players from each school will compete in match play competition. The tournament will take place Sept. 8-9 at 7:30 a.m. and Sept. 10 at 1:30pm.

STX will sponsor a practice round for students where they will have the opportunity to test out and play with the latest STX putters before the tournament on Sept. 7 at 8:00 a.m. There will also be a skills competition after the practice rounds for competing athletes.
The women’s Tignanelli Towson Invitational will also be held during Baltimore’s College Golf Weekend from Sept. 9-10. There will be 18 teams competing in the women’s tournament, including players from St. John’s, Delaware, William & Mary and Old Dominion.
“In the 15 years we have been hosting intercollegiate events, this is the first opportunity we have had to run a tournament in our backyard,” said Towson University’s head men’s golf coach Brian Yaniger. “Working in partnership with both STX Putters and the Towson Golf and Country Club, our supporters and fans and those who are fans of golf can now come out and see a Division I men's collegiate event.”
The tournament will be held at the Towson Golf and Country Club, 12801 Stone Hill Road, Phoenix, MD 21131. Fans who come out to watch the tournament will also have the opportunity to try STX Putters on the practice green.
