Summer Tutoring Programs Helps Children Be Prepared for the Fall Semester

Study Sparkz announces their 2012 summer tutoring program. The long summer break can put children at risk of summer learning loss. The Study Sparkz summer learning program, will keep a child's mind sharp and help retain what was learned in the previous school year.

It’s an intense one-on-one program - yet, we are very flexible with our scheduling to allow for vacation trips, camps and other summer activities.

Study Sparkz isn’t your typical tutoring organization. They do not hold classes in their facilities and they are not a tutor locating service, and yet they are fully devoted to the academic growth of young minds. How do they do it? We asked their director to explain to us their unique system for assisting students and parents. It was truly a learning experience.

“The secret to Study Sparkz’s success with students,” says owner Farooq Cheema “is in three important aspects. First, our counselors do a thorough evaluation of the student’s academic and motivational abilities. This helps us in the second phase when we match the student to one of our professional tutors. This matching is not only scholastic in nature, but is designed to pair the student with the perfect tutor, who will be the best one-on-one match for sparking the student toward academic success. Thirdly, we assign a liaison to the student who coordinates with the in-home instruction by the tutor, the goals requested by the parents, the requirements of the student’s teachers at school and their faculty, so that everyone is on the same page for getting the most out of everyone’s efforts. No one, especially the student, is in the dark about what expectations need to be met.”

In like manner, the Study Sparkz summer “Academic Enrichment” tutoring programs are designed to get the most out of the academic experience. The 10-week program is designed to allow the student to continue to develop scholastic skills and to create a structure for future academic growth.

“It’s an intense one-on-one program,” says Cheema. “Yet, we are very flexible with our scheduling to allow for vacation trips, camps and other summer activities.”

The K-6 program includes Language Arts and Math content and is tailored to each student based on their previous school-year grades and initial baseline testing. The initial testing determines the student’s level, and mid and end testing ensures student goals are met. The same testing is done for Middle and High School students as well.

The Middle School program allows a choice of three content areas including: Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. Content will focus on either basic skills or higher-level applications of previous studies. There is also time devoted to developing keener organizational skills.

The High School program offers one content area of either Math (Algebra I, Geometry, or Algebra II), Science (Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics), or English. With the high-school program their private tutor will focus on applying challenging situation to the previous year content as well as working on improving study and organizational skills.
