SuperPages.com Survey Reveals What You See Is Not Always What You’ll
Get On A First Date
Honesty Is the Best Policy Considering New York Ranks #1 with Most
Divorce Attorneys
DALLAS (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) February 13, 2007 --
Seventy-five percent of people’s behaviors
change on a first date, and more than 73 percent of first dates never
even make it to the second one according to a Valentine’s
Day survey1 conducted by SuperPages.com.
With more than 45 percent of those surveyed considering a first date on
Valentine's Day, consumers are searching for the perfect gifts, buying
the prettiest flowers
and making reservations at the best local restaurants.
In addition to the following results, more survey results can be found
online at www.SuperPages.com/survey.
“Whether it's your first date, a blind date,
or if you’re lucky enough to make it to the
second date, SuperPages.com provides robust local search capabilities
that allow you to plan a fun date without all the anxiety that comes
with it,“ said Robyn Rose, vice president of
marketing for SuperPages.com, a product of Idearc
Media Corp.
Thirty-four percent of 18-20 year olds have lied about themselves,
opposed to the 22 percent of 26-35 year olds. For those who aren’t
honest on their first dates, consider the following cities with the most
divorce attorneys according to data based on the number of divorce

Three times more women than men think they should split the check
evenly. Because 77 percent of males still think the male should pay for
dinner, men may still believe in chivalry while women may think
otherwise. On this Valentine’s Day, giving flowers
on the first date may still be considered a chivalrous act. While New
York likes to eat, Los Angeles outranks New York with the most florists
according to SuperPages.com.

For millions of single Americans, there’s
always the challenge of overcoming that very first date. According to
Robin Gorman Newman, a singles’ guru and love
coach whose recent book titled “How to Marry
a Mensch” has garnered world-wide awareness,
it is not advisable to put on an act during the first date.
“The majority of first dates never even make
it to the second round, and with the anxiety and high expectations
brought to a first date, it’s a wonder anyone
makes it to the second date these days,” says
Newman. “Just be yourself and don’t
pretend to be someone you’re not.”
Newman provides singles with the following tips for a successful first
date. More tips can be found online at www.SuperPages.com/survey.
DO:
-
Be yourself. The best way of ensuring future dates is by being
you. If you try to give a false impression by lying about your
accomplishments or saying things you feel your date would like to
hear, you are only condemning your hope of starting a new relationship.
-
Listen attentively. This is especially valuable if you leave
the date and can’t remember a single thing
about what the other person said. If you listen, you’re
able to gain an insight to the other person. For example, you may find
out that the other person isn’t the
marrying kind. Now, wouldn’t that be
valuable information to have?
DON’T:
-
Put your cell phone on the table. People can be offended by
this, especially if you engage in phone conversations while your
concentration should be focused on the other person. Put it away, and
only answer it if it’s an emergency.
-
Deliver a verbal resume. This is not the time to admit to all
of your vulnerabilities, what you’ve
accomplished over the course of five years, or where you think you’ll
be in the next five years. Focus on having fun and leave something to
create intrigue.
