KFx Medical Corporation Adds Dr. Jon Warner to Scientific Advisory Board

KFx Medical Corporation (www.kfxmed.com), a developer of minimally invasive percutaneous repair systems for rotator cuff repair has added Dr. Jon (JP) Warner, Chief of Harvard Shoulder Services to its Scientific Advisory Board.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) August 9, 2006 -- KFx Medical Corporation, a developer of minimally invasive percutaneous repair systems for rotator cuff repair has added Dr. Jon (JP) Warner, Chief of Harvard Shoulder Services to its Scientific Advisory Board.

Dr. Warner joined the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Surgery Dept. in April 1998 as Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Partner’s Health Care System and Chief of the Harvard Shoulder Service at Partners and has since been promoted to Full Professor in June 2004. Dr. Warner has offices at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Previously he was Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Director of the Shoulder Service, Assistant Director of the Center for Sports Medicine, and Co-Director of the Shoulder Research Laboratory at the Musculoskeletal Research Center at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Warner has authored over 80 peer review publications, more than 200 book chapters, and 4 books and received numerous research awards. Dr. Warner is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of numerous specialty societies including the Orthopaedic Research Society, the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

It’s rewarding to work with a company like KFx Medical that is developing products that will improve the quality of rotator cuff repairs and patient outcomes
Dr. Joseph Tauro, Chairman of the KFx Scientific Advisory Board and in private practice at Ocean County Sports Medicine in Toms River, NJ and one of the earliest pioneers in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair welcomed Dr. Warner, “It is rewarding that a world class clinician such as Dr. Warner has embraced the KFx SutureXCross system for rotator cuff repair. We are honored with his addition.” Dr. Tauro chairs the scientific board that includes Drs. Christopher Behr, Eric Carson, Gregory Fanelli, Matt France, and Brad Giannotti.

“It’s rewarding to work with a company like KFx Medical that is developing products that will improve the quality of rotator cuff repairs and patient outcomes,” said Dr. Warner, continuing, “it is a win win situation when you enable more surgeons to perform a better repair for patients while simplifying surgical techniques.”

Over four million people seek medical advice for shoulder pain every year; torn rotator cuffs alone account for more than 500,000 surgeries annually and have traditionally required many weeks of rehabilitation. Traditional minimally invasive techniques, although promising - patients typically experience less pain and regain full range of motion more quickly - require surgeons to have advanced videoscopic skills. In contrast, KFx provides simple systems for surgeons while ensuring more anatomical repair for the patient, yielding better clinical outcomes
