New York, NY (PRWEB) June 30, 2013

A new website dedicated to providing information to women seeking to file surgical mesh lawsuit claims has been launched by Bernstein Liebhard LLP. Amidst other vital information, the Firm’s new website describes products allegedly associated with mesh erosion and other transvaginal mesh complications, as well as the process of surgical removal and updates on lawsuits that have already been filed against transvaginal mesh manufacturers in the U.S.

In addition to being readily available to answer any questions you may have about a potential vaginal mesh lawsuit, the Firm is also offering confidential case evaluations to women who may have experienced one or more of the following vaginal mesh complications:

  •     Erosion through vaginal tissue
  •     Infection
  •     Pain
  •     Recurrence of prolapse and/or incontinence.
  •     Pain during intercourse
  •     Diminished quality of life

“As we continue to hear from women who allegedly suffered horrific complications from transvaginal mesh devices, this new website will be helpful in providing updates on potential vaginal mesh side effects as well as updates on cases that have already been filed in the U.S.,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices.

Vaginal Mesh Complications

Concerns about transvaginal mesh have grown steadily since October 2008, when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a health alert warning the public that it had received over 1,000 complication reports stemming from the use of transvaginal mesh devices. In July 2011, the implants designed to treat pelvic organ prolapse (POP) in women were scrutinized even further when the agency announced the number of complaints it had received since its 2008 warning had grown five-fold. *

The number of surgical mesh lawsuits has also grown since then, with thousands of claims now pending in separate multidistrict litigations underway in the U.S. District, Southern District of West Virginia. These litigations include: In re: Boston Scientific Corp., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation (“MDL No. 2326); In re: C.R. Bard, Inc., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation (“MDL No. 2187”), and In re: Ethicon, Inc., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation (“MDL No. 2327”). Bernstein Liebhard LLP partner, Jeffrey S. Grand, is a member of the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in these four federal transvaginal mesh litigations.

Transvaginal mesh lawsuits are continuing to pile up in state litigations as well. According to a Case List update on May 28th, 2013, more than 2,800 surgical mesh lawsuits involving Ethicon devices had been filed in a consolidated litigation established in New Jersey’s Atlantic County Superior Court. Claims filed in this proceeding allege mesh erosion, infection and other injuries. (In re: Pelvic Mesh/Gynecare Litigation, No. 6341-10).

Hundreds of transvaginal mesh lawsuits filed over products manufactured by C.R. Bard Inc. are also pending in a second proceeding underway in Atlantic County Superior Court (In re: Pelvic Mesh Litigation/Bard, No. L-6339-10). Jeffrey S. Grand, a Firm partner at Bernstein Liebhard LLP is serving as Co-Liaison Counsel for both litigations in New Jersey.

Women who allegedly experienced transvaginal mesh complications may be eligible to receive significant compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and other out-of-pocket costs related to their injuries. In addition to offering free and confidential case evaluations for potential surgical mesh lawsuits, Bernstein Liebhard LLP has provided a wealth of information about transvaginal mesh erosion and other complications on its new website.
