Survival Life and Managing Editor ‘Above Average’ Joe have announced a special online contest that will reward community members with prizes for their disaster preparation plans. Details can be found on the SurvivalLife.com website, and participants can contribute their entries in the comments section of the contest’s informational article.

The contest will last until midnight on Monday, February 11, 2013 and winners will be directly contacted through the comment section of the article. Prizes include lifetime access to the Lamp Lighter Society Newsletter, plus access to other informative Special Reports from the educated minds behind SurvivalLife.com.

After thinking about his own personal preparations and opinions, Joe said that he “decided to create a contest to show just how different our opinions are on things as simple as an emergency meal plan.”

“The first three days of any emergency crisis are always the most critical. It’s not that problems can’t or won’t occur after the initial event, but psychologically, people are dealing with the trauma of the moment and it can be difficult to think about something as simple as preparing a meal,” Joe wrote in the online article.

The contest uses a hypothetical crisis situation and asks readers for a three-day meal plan, devised within certain parameters and staying within a total budget of only $54.00.

Bonus points are awarded if meal plans fall into specialized dietary restrictions, but the final winners will be chosen by Joe for their practicality, originality, and nutritional value.

“I look forward to reading all of the brilliant ideas,” Joe wrote, “and seeing just how far out of the box we can get.”
