The semiweekly Digital Newsletter from SurvivalLife.com includes articles from Editor and blog curator ‘Above Average’ Joe, a self-made prepper looking out for people’s disaster readiness. His insight and mental portfolio of survival preparation is helping readers across the globe learn more about being practical, responsible, and useful with emergency plans, supplies, and skills.

The main featured article of the Newsletter highlights a number of unique places to store survival items. Joe pointed out that it’s important to be smart with storage spaces.

“Creating hiding places for items can be a challenge especially if you don’t already have handyman skills and a large budget,” wrote Joe in the article. “Fortunately, there are some options that are easy to take advantage of without a lot of cost and also without standing out like a sore thumb.”

Joe goes on to list ways to use large freezers, working or not, as a place to keep a stash of survival food and other supplies.

In the Survival Tips portion of the Newsletter, the subject of eggs is covered, with an emphasis on identifying their freshness. Joe busts some myths about the quality of store-bought eggs, and shares a useful trick to find out roughly how old eggs are.

“Did you know that many of the eggs that you purchase by the dozen in your local grocery store are already weeks old before they hit the shelf?” asked Joe in the article. His knowledge has already encouraged a number of comments on the article, and SurvivalLife.com hopes people continue discussing the content at the same rate. Readers always add more to the equation, and Joe values his audience’s input.

The last piece is the Practical Prepper article, which reviews the Crovel, an entrenching tool from Gear Up Center. Joe had the chance to use one of these in person when he attended the 2012 Survival Expo in Las Vegas.

“I actually got to speak to the creator of the Crovel at length and I was impressed,” Joe wrote. “I have seen my fair share of entrenching tools and I have a couple in my cache, but nothing compares to this tool.”

Instead of a typical pros and cons list, Joe shares his best add-on features for the Crovel, and only informs readers of his minor pet peeves with the device. “Normally I do a pros and cons section but this tool is just too awesome,” Joe wrote in the article.

Articles like these are featured daily on SurvivalLife.com, alongside content other prepper blogs, product reviews, e-book reviews, and a variety of topics on disaster preparation and survival. It is a non-politically biased source that is geared toward the survival side of prepping.
