U.S. Representatives Introduce Resolution Calling for Assad to be Tried for against Humanity
ASC commends Reps. Cole and Israel and urges Congressional support for H.R. 687
The American Syrian Coalition (ASC) commends Reps. Tom Cole (R-OK) and Steve Israel (D-NY) for calling for Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad to be tried for crimes against humanity. The Representatives introduced House Resolution 687, which condemns the ongoing violence and gross human rights violations carried out by Syrian forces and calls on the U.N. Security Council to refer the situation of Syria to the International Criminal Court to try Assad for committing crimes against humanity.

"This resolution was introduced in response to estimates by the United Nations that, since the beginning of the Syrian revolution, more than 9,000 people have been killed and tens of thousands have been displaced." Cole and Israel for introducing H.R. 687 and ask all Members of Congress to support and pass this resolution as soon as possible to help bring an end to Assad's atrocities against innocent Syrians and put him on trial for crimes against humanity," Dr Azrak said.
