The Syrian Expatriates Organization denounces the recent statement by Asma al Assad that showcases her unequivocol support to her husband, Bashar Assad, despite his 11 months of bloody atrocities against the Syrian People.
Asma al Assad, whose family hails from Homs, declared her support to her husband for the first time since the uprising began in March, 2011, all while her husband, Bashar Assad, bombarded her hometown. As reported by The British based news, The Telegraph, “The wife of Syrian president Bashar al Assad appears to have broken an 11-month silence with a letter supporting her husband as his forces bombard the citizens of Homs.”
As reported by the same source, Asma Assad said, “The First Lady's very busy agenda is still focused on supporting the various charities she has long been involved with and rural development as well as supporting the President as needed”
Dr Yaseen Rafee, SEO President said, “We think that, Mrs Assad’s statement of support to her husband is confusing, while she is supporting her husband in his bloody crackdown, she mentioned in the same statement, she is working on charities and development. We denounce Mrs. Assad statement. We expected that, the fact she grew up in a western society that respects freedom and human rights, will guide her in taking the right position toward the Syrian uprising against her husband's 11 years of oppression.”
With Asma Assad's statement of support, SEO holds Mrs Assad accountable for all the crimes her husband has committed against the Syrian People and considers her a partner in his bloody crackdown.
