Lebanon suspends funding treatment for wounded Syrians

Syrian expatriates organization in conjunction with Syrian American Medical Society regret the the Lebanese Higher Relief Council (HRC) decision to suspend the funding of medical assistance for wounded Syrian, who cross the borders fleeing the neighboring devastated areas in Syria, as reported by Reuters

The Syrian Refugee coordination committee in Lebanon said, in a statement issued today, July 11th that ” Although assistance has only just been formally suspended, wounded patients started to be refused from treatment several days ago”

SEO board member and Trauma Surgeon, Dr Anas Alkassam, said” We highly appreciate the great assistance the Lebanese higher commission for relief have done so far, and strongly believe they should continue to accept wounded Syrians and provide them with needed urgent surgeries. These cases are emergency and life threatening in most of the time. There should be no hesitation to accept trauma and life threatening cases.”

SEO and SAMS urge the Lebanese Higher Relief Council to rescind their decision, continue their support for the wounded Syrian Refugee, and demand immediate access of IFRC, the international humanitarian and medical agencies, to the Syrian refugee camp in Lebanon.
