Retirement Industry Trust Association (RITA) Releases a Free Video on Self-directed IRAs for Tax Advisers & Investors

Retirement Industry Trust Association (RITA) has released a video presentation by Tom W. Anderson, RITA President, that recognizes the important role that CPAs play in helping investors manage their retirement accounts.

“While there is a growing interest in the use of self-directed retirement accounts and alternative asset investments amongst the public, there is a dearth of knowledge within the CPA community about some of the technical aspects, including those affecting tax consequences. Closing this knowledge gap, represents opportunities for both the investor who will be in a position to receive guidance and advice from their CPA, and the CPA who can develop a new service to provide to his or her customers and prospects”, according to Mr. Anderson.

In conjunction with Jeff Jacobs of SmartPros, an educational service serving the accounting profession, this video interview with Mr. Anderson reviews some of the basic aspects of self-directed IRAs, real-life examples of successful investment strategies, the latest Federal initiatives, and the key points for CPAs to employ. “We’ve helped start some of the largest public companies in the United States from a $2,000 IRA Investment”, says Anderson, founder of PENSCO Trust Company. “From buying cattle to condos in Croatia- retirement funds offer investors tremendous opportunities outside of the stock market but you have to know the rules and tax laws to avoid potential penalties or unnecessary taxes.”

This educational video reveals the benefits of self-directed IRAs, the danger signs of potential fraud and the latest information on emerging tax laws governing self-directed IRAs.

Little-Known Benefits of Self-Directed IRAs Explained in Video, Include:
√ Great source of capital to start a business
√ Enables the smaller investor to participate in Private Offerings like Wall Street Brokers
√ Investors can take advantage of today’s distressed real estate prices
√ Generate retirement income from rental property
√ Diversify retirement funds with private equity, real estate, commodities, tax liens, franchises, precious metals and more
√ Gain access to global investment opportunities
√ Get a non-recourse loan to buy real estate to increase returns

As the interest grows for alternatives to the traditional investment products, especially in today’s uncertain economic environment, it is even more important for CPAs to be knowledgeable about self-directed retirement accounts and the rules surrounding them.

Individual investors interested in learning more about the benefits and administration of self-directed retirement accounts can also benefit from viewing the video, which is another example of RITA’s proactive effort to inform the public about their retirement savings options.
