Talent, INC Canada is pleased to announce official co-Sponsorship for the Outstanding Performance by a Male category in the General Theatre Division of the Dora Mavor Moore Awards. The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) will present the 33rd Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards, in celebration of outstanding achievments in theatre, dance and opera on Monday, June 25th, 2012 at 8pm at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts in the Bluma Appel Theatre.

Toronto is all a buzz with the upcoming press conference announcing the nominees of the 33rd Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards to be held Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 10:00AM in the Rehearsal Studios of the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre. The nominees will be announced this year by Naomi Snieckus and Matt Baram. In addition, City Councillor Krystin Wong Tam will announce the recipient of the Barabara Hamilton Award for Excellence in the Performing Arts. The press conference will also include the presentation of the George Luscombe Award for Mentorship in Theatre and Leonard McHardy and John Harvey Award for Mentorship in Theatre and the Leonard McHardy and John Harvey Award for Arts Administration will also be presented.

What are the Dora Awards?

The Doras are named for Dora Mavor Moore (1888 - 1979), a well-loved teacher and director who helped establish Canadian professional theatre in the 1930s and 1940s. Recognizing the outstanding achievements in Toronto's performing arts industry, the Doras honour the creators of over 200 theatre, dance and opera productions annually in the following Divisions: General Theatre, Independent Theatre, Musical Theatre, Dance, Opera and Theatre for Young Audiences.

The Dora Mavor Moore Awards are administered by the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA). TAPA is an arts service organization that represents nearly 200 professional theatre, dance and opera companies in the City of Toronto and administers the Dora Mavor Moore Awards.

John Stevens, and Doug Sloan the founders of Talent, INC Canada were eager to show their support. Stevens, a veteran performer of Musical Theatre said “ It only seems fitting to support local artists after all the support they have shown us over the years. Especially, since we opened our own studio.”

Doug Sloan, who has been a vital part of the business community over the past 14 years in Toronto, encouraged other businesses to support the arts as well. “Whether you are a part of the entertainment industry or not, is irrelevant. The arts have enriched the very life of this city.” he says.
