Many homeowners are switching to environmentally-friendly tankless water heaters. Dream Builders General Contractors, a leader in tankless water heater installations, is helping Bay Area homeowners make the switch before the 2010 tax credits of 30% up to $1,500 expire at the end of the year.

Tankless water heaters take up less space and provide an endless amount of hot water.

Dream Builders General Contractors announced today a program to help homeowners take advantage of up to $1,500 in tax credits available for the next three months for switching to tankless water heaters.

Tankless water heaters are considered a “green” alternative to traditional water heaters. They can be up to 95% energy efficient, use up to 50% less energy, conserve water and produce less carbon dioxide than traditional water heaters. Some models are even made from 95% recyclable materials. Tankless water heaters also offer an endless supply of hot water and take up less space than tank-style heaters.

“Heating water can account for 30% of a household's energy consumption, so switching to a tankless water heater is a great way to conserve energy and it is good for the environment,” said Marlene Perez, co-founder of Dream Builders General Contractors. “Our program helps people make the move now while there are still financial incentives available.”

To prepare for a tankless installation, homeowners need to determine whether their existing natural gas line and electrical service are adequate and identify how the combustion gases will be vented. Augmentations could affect installation time and costs.

“It is best to have a professional like Dream Builders come to your home and evaluate the situation,” said Perez. “In our program we give clients an honest assessment and sometimes other energy-saving options so that they can make the right choice for their needs.”
