Following Target’s recent announcement that it will soon offer a natural foods restaurant in one of its Chicago store locations, Massage School San Diego has expressed its support, asserting that Target’s move to provide natural food options for its patrons will help expand the holistic health industry as a whole.

The announcement that Target will soon offer an in-store all natural food restaurant at its newest downtown Chicago location was released this week by Adam Horovitz of USA Today. San Diego massage school educator MSSD has declared its support of Target’s choice to provide in-store healthy food options, stating that it will help the natural and raw food movement gain more exposure.

When Target opens its new downtown Chicago location, also called CityTarget, patrons will get more than just affordable groceries, clothes and housewares; Target recently announced that the location will also include an in-store natural food restaurant called Pret a Manger. Meaning “ready to eat” in French, Pret A Manager will sell fresh, all-natural snack and meal options for Target’s shoppers. Pret A Manager not only offers holistic, healthy food choices, but they also post calories counts for all menu items, making it the perfect eatery for any patrons watching their weight or following a strict diet. stated, “With the lives of many becoming fast-paced eating on the go has turned to food options that may not be the healthiest. Our organization supports all things healthy and natural. We absolutely support natural food choices in stores like Target. This option allows shoppers on the go to grab something good for them, but still maintain their momentum through the day.”

Target is a chain of discount retail stores in the United States; it currently has 1,767 locations across the country. Founded in 1902 in Minneapolis, Minn., the store was originally called the Dayton Dry Goods Company. In 1962, the first official Target location opened in Roseville, Minn. In 2011, Target announced that it will soon expand business into Canada, with a plan to open 100-150 stores by the end of 2013.

Pret a Manger is a United Kingdom-based natural food chain with locations across the world in London, New York, Hong Kong, Chicago and Washington, D.C. Their menu offers sandwiches, soups, salads, croissants, muffins and coffee, among other items, all of which are made fresh daily. Food at Pret a Manger is all-natural, meaning it’s free of preservatives, antibiotics and more, and they also offer cage-free eggs and vegan choices.

Chicago is the third biggest city in the United States, boasting a population of more than 2.7 million people. It encompasses 234 square miles and is often referred to as “the windy city,” due to its gusty weather. Chicago is home to several well-known landmarks, such as the Sears Tower (now call the Willis Tower), Trump Tower, and Cloud Gate, more commonly referred to as “the bean.”

Following Target’s announcement that it will soon offer Pret a Manger, an all-natural food restaurant in its new downtown Chicago location, has affirmed its support of Target in its move toward providing healthier, more holistic food options for its patrons.
