With its initial launch, Tatoosh Distillery is introducing two new craft products, Tatoosh Bourbon and Tatoosh Whiskey. Both are derived from family recipes that originated in Louisiana more than 100 years ago and were handed down through generations of Tatoosh Distillery co-founder Troy Turner’s family.

The spirits are distilled in Bend, Ore. and aged under Tatoosh Distillery’s watch using an accelerated oak infusion spiral process, which adds American and French Oak flavor. The freshness of the ingredients and purity of the Northwest waters are combined using ultramodern distilling techniques and filtration process that create a whiskeys with a clean taste and unmatched smoothness.

Tatoosh Bourbon is a burnished gold in color and offers a mélange of aromas to the nose: honey, vanilla, oak, toffee and a suggestion of coriander. The body is big and on the palate it becomes a spicy, masculine whiskey with a complex note of leather, tobacco and citrus with a bit of smokiness not often found in a bourbon.

Tatoosh Whiskey offers a superior flavor with a smooth texture that can be enjoyed on its own or as part of a more complex cocktail. The single malt, 80 proof whiskey is dark copper in the bottle and bronze gold in the glass. The whiskey offers a heavy malt, leather, pecan, caramel, tobacco, and an oak grain influence on the nose, with caramel sweetness and char developing. The taste holds a slightly light body, slightly astringent, and light sweetness backstopped by malt and oak pepper. Tatoosh Whiskey will be released in March 2013.

On the first run, Tatoosh Distillery will produce 1,500 bottles each of Tatoosh Bourbon and Tatoosh Whiskey. Tatoosh Bourbon will be available this week at select bars, cocktail lounges, restaurants and retail outlets in the Seattle/Bellevue area. Tatoosh Whiskey will debut in the Seattle market in March 2013.
