This important new release includes extensive enhancements for knowledge capture and management, expanded 3D CAD integration and design automation, a new Web Storefront application, and a number of new tools for system administration and enterprise integration. With BuyDesign 7.0, companies will realize improved product management productivity, faster new product introductions, increased customer satisfaction, new ways to grow sales, and streamlined system management. Highlights of BuyDesign 7.0 include:

Enhanced Knowledge Capture and Management
BuyDesign 7.0 makes it easier than ever to capture and manage product knowledge by delivering further refined product modeling capabilities combined with an all-new model design environment. The streamlined product modeling paradigm speeds model development by enabling more concise product representations with fewer, more powerful rules - many models can now be represented with up to 50% fewer rules. The new Design Studio has been re-engineered from the ground up to use contemporary graphical user interface concepts with a number of new features to reduce training time, accelerate new model development, and streamline model management.

Expanded & Enhanced Integration with Popular 3D CAD Systems
Integration with both Solidworks and PTC’s Pro/ENGINEER enables companies to leverage industry-leading 3D CAD systems for design automation, including configurator-driven generation of drawings, CAD models and data.

New Web Storefront Application
The BuyDesign 7.0 suite of guided selling and e-commerce applications has been further expanded to include an industry-leading Web storefront solution that enables companies to offer B2C and/or B2B end customers the ability to buy both standard and configured products online, from anywhere, at whatever time is most convenient for them. The BuyDesign Guided Selling suite now includes applications for direct and indirect sales channel quoting, proposal generation, and ordering; self-service buying, and consumer interest generation.

Enhanced Deployment & Administration
BuyDesign 7.0 streamlines update management for online and offline users while improving the user experience for all users with further enhanced performance. A new Update Management System (UMS) speeds creation, publishing, and application of updates. BuyDesign architecture enhancements combined with use of the latest functions within Microsoft .NET platform deliver up to 50% increases in BuyDesign Configurator performance.

Enhanced Enterprise Integration
BuyDesign 7.0 makes it easier for companies to leverage BuyDesign Configurator across all their Web, server, desktop, and laptop applications that need product configuration capabilities. Enhancements include a version-independent BuyDesign Configurator API, expanded Web Services, and packaged adapters for popular ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics AX, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Infor ERP SyteLine, and more.

“With BuyDesign 7.0, we’ve made a significant investment in making BuyDesign capabilities even broader, deeper, and easier to use,” said Dan DeMuth, TDCI President. “We’ve worked closely with our customers and partners, while also studying the future needs of our target industries.
