The Teach & Inspire Scholarship Program will hold free information sessions during August and early September, detailing how individuals can receive a scholarship to earn their teaching certification. Those accepted into the program must commit to teach in high-need schools and subjects in South Carolina for three years.

We still have scholarship dollars going unused and I urge anyone with an interest in teaching in South Carolina to come to our free events to learn more.

In August and early September, the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE) will hold information session on its Teach & Inspire Scholarship Program at selected sites in South Carolina.

ABCTE’s Teach & Inspire Scholarship Program is funded by a U.S. Department of Education Transition to Teaching grant and is designed to recruit and prepare highly-qualified individuals to teach in high-need South Carolina schools in the subjects of math, science and English. Teach & Inspire provides accepted participants with a full scholarship and materials needed to become certified teachers through the ABCTE program. Once ABCTE teaching certification is obtained, candidates are eligible for an additional $1,000 stipend for completing classroom observations.

Participants must make a three-year commitment to teach their subject in a high-need school in South Carolina. Prospective applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree, have the ability to work independently and possess a strong desire to make a positive impact on South Carolina students.

”We’re looking for highly-motivated individuals who are passionate about making a real difference in students' lives,“ said Kate Stephens, Teach & Inspire Program Manager. "We still have scholarship dollars going unused and I urge anyone with an interest in teaching in South Carolina to come to our free events to learn more.”

Online information sessions are also available through the organization’s website for anyone unable to attend the in-person events.
