Thousands of Scholarship Dollars Available Until November 20 for Aspiring Teachers in Florida, Mississippi & South Carolina
ABCTE’s Teach & Inspire Scholarship Program provides accepted participants with a full scholarship to earn their teaching certification, if they commit to teach in a high-need school and subject in Florida, Mississippi or South Carolina for three years.
(Vocus/PRWEB ) November 12, 2009 -- For those interested in becoming teachers in Florida, Mississippi or South Carolina, thousands of teaching scholarship dollars are available until November 20 through the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE).
ABCTE’s Teach & Inspire Scholarship Program provides accepted participants with a full scholarship to earn their teaching certification and candidates are eligible for an additional $1,000 stipend for completing classroom observations.
The Teach & Inspire program is funded by a U.S. Department of Education Transition to Teaching grant and is designed to recruit and prepare highly-qualified individuals for the classroom. Program participants must make a three-year commitment to teach in a high-need subject and school. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree, have the ability to work independently and possess a strong desire to make a positive impact on students.
“During every set of recruitment sessions for Teach & Inspire we have scholarship dollars that go unused because we cannot find enough great candidates,” says ABCTE CEO David Saba. “We’d like to give out every scholarship we have available,” explains Saba, “but we want to ensure the program produces great teachers. That means finding people who are passionate about mastering their subjects and becoming great teachers dedicated to improving student learning.
