ANNAPOLIS, MD (PRWEB) May 30, 2012
Team 4Mil, an all-volunteer organization focused on supporting, training and equipping wounded warriors for adaptive cycling, and Jostens, a proud supporter of military programs that positively impact the community and provider of military rings, today announced that for the third year in a row they will be supporting two teams of cyclists, one of Wounded Veterans, the other of US Service Members, in the 2012 Race Across America (RAAM). RAAM is a 3,000 mile bicycle race from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis, MD, which crosses 14 states, dozens of small towns, and will be completed in less than a week. For the first time, the two teams supported by Team 4Mil and Jostens will be joined by a Wounded Warrior Team from the UK, making for an exciting competition in an epic race adventure.
“We are honored and humbled by the perseverance and passion demonstrated by the teams as they prepare to cycle across country,” declared Mike Matney, Team 4Mil’s Rider Captain who leads the U.S. team. RAAM is internationally recognized as the world’s most challenging endurance competition reflecting the difficulty of cycling non-stop over 3,000 miles between Oceanside, CA and Annapolis, MD.
Team 4Mil, whose members participate in adaptive cycling and rehabilitation programs with the goal of making a difference in the lives of injured service members, has been actively training wounded service members to participate in a broad spectrum of cycling activities. “RAAM certainly represents the pinnacle of competition and establishes a lofty competitive goal,” stated Roy Collins, Team 4Mil’s co-Founder. “Each team shares a conviction to train hard to prepare for the race.”
“Jostens is honored to support Team 4Mil’s US Service Member and Wounded Warrior Teams in their 2012 RAAM mission,” said Tim Larson, president and CEO, Jostens. “Jostens helps people to personalize, share and remember their experiences and we understand that we could not do our job or celebrate our way of life without the sacrifice of the men and women in uniform.”
