We’re happy to offer our schooner to companies seeking a unique venue for people to reconnect with one another and strengthen team spirit.

To help companies struggling with low morale or trying to keep office relationships in ship shape, Gas Light Charters is now offering a 3-hour San Francisco Bay cruise aboard a replica of an actual 1874 scow schooner, Gas Light.

The schooner replica was built in Sausalito by owner-operator Billy Martinelli in 1974. She features an 18’ by 30’ open cabin with a 12’ mahogany salon table and plenty of seating. Because of her flat-bottomed hull design, she sails very smooth and stable, which makes food and beverage service unusually easy and comfortable for a ship. In addition to team building events, Gas Light is available for birthday parties, weddings, memorials and educational and ecological tours of San Francisco Bay.

“We’re happy to offer our schooner to companies seeking a unique venue for people to reconnect with one another and strengthen team spirit,” said Martinelli.

According to a recent article that appeared in SFGate, one out of four people report disliking their boss for issues such as poor people skills, and 55% agree that a boss should understand group dynamics.

Gas Light Charters offers structured San Francisco team building programs that keep people very busy performing nautical tasks, but the best events, according to Martinelli, are lightly structured—especially those that feature adult beverages.

Meeting space is available for 35. The crew is usually 3, which includes owner Billy Martinelli; an experienced, licensed captain; and a deck hand, who assists the captain, handles the sails, and organizes people. Gas Light has recently hosted teams from Netflix, Google and Autodesk.

The San Francisco Bay charter boat company has hosted teams from National Geographic and the Playboy Network. In addition, over 5,000 middle school children have sailed on the Gas Light.
