A picture book about a lady and her adopted kitten who loved each other in the short time before fate separated them, RF Martin’s Tears of the Heart is about the circumstances that causes homeless pets to be turned out of homes and the fairy tale circumstances which saved the said kitten.
The story starts with the ordinary lives of two newbie teachers and roommates, Joanna and Hardy. Joanna adopts a kitten she finds by the wayside one winter but has to put it out (the kitten she names Amy) because Hardy is allergic to cat hairs. Sadly, Joanna gives up Amy to the animal shelter but not before giving Amy a blue ribbon with a silver bell earring tied to her neck. Herein comes the magical part of Martin’s story.
Amy, as luck would have it, is destined to be adopted by a king and queen. They had lost their daughter a while back and once, traveling abroad and returning to their castle, they find Amy the cat they had lavished with love had turned into a beautiful young woman who becomes their miracle princess. In time the princess would marry her prince. In that prince’s kingdom called Woodlands, Joanna will one day meet Amy in human form once again.
This book will be featured at the 2013 Bologna Book Fair Book Exhibit in Bologna, Italy, on March 25 – 28, 2013.
