Teen Rock Band Ready to Roll Havin' A Great Time Tour on the Road this Summer through New England
The Jessica Prouty Band's first "Havin' A Great Time Tour" is on! Named after one of the songs on their debut CD, the tour kicks off June 22nd at Hampton Beach, New Hampshire and finishes up in Harmony, Maine on September, 7th. The "Havin' A Great Time" tour is an all ages welcome, fan friendly, rock and roll show that's set to play over 35 dates and counting throughout New England this summer, including a stop at the Berklee College of Music to take advantage of an all-band Summer Program scholarship.
Boston, MA (PRWEB) May 26, 2009 -- Female-fronted teen rock band, the Jessica Prouty Band, is set to invite existing fans and new fans to "Have a Great Time" with them at fairs and festivals, state parks or camps, and other venues this summer. While doing a brief tour last summer around the release of their first full-length CD, Saving My Sanity, at the Hard Rock Boston, this year's tour is more extensive and should give the band a feel for what it would be like to devote their life to music. From family-friendly agricultural fairs that include midways, harness racing or pig scrambles, to a high-tech amusement parks like Six Flags New England, this band entertains with a mixture of clean on-pitch vocals, blues guitar riffs, melodic keys, and a metalesque double bass kick drum. Whether on grass, sawdust, or stages with lights, this band is ready to invite fans to discover them, have a great time, and help write the story.
The Jessica Prouty Band Havin' A Great Time
The band is comprised of Jessica Prouty (15) lead vocals, bass (Marblehead, MA); Cody Nilsen (16) lead guitar, backing vocals (Wilmington, MA); Cam Pelkey (15) drums (Marblehead, MA); and Andy Covino (14) keys (Swampscott, MA.)
When asked about the tour, Jessica Prouty said, "Whether it is a one-day gig or a three-day gig, we get to meet a lot of people and have a lot of fun."
"I can't wait for long drives, too much fast food, and playing my drums as much as possible," added Cam Pelkey, "this is my dream summer."
"Jess and I won a scholarship to Berklee last summer and I took Guitar Sessions, but this year we all won a scholarship. We are going to be doing the Stage Performance Workshop together. I can't wait to see how we step it up a notch," declared Cody Nilsen, guitarist.
"We're touring from Connecticut to near the Canadian border. We are trying to play as far as possible from home during the summer with the good weather. Is there a better place to go on tour than New England in the summer?" asked keyboardist, Andy Covino.
In thanks to the fans who go to multiple dates, the Jessica Prouty Band will give each fan who goes to five stops on the tour a commemorative "Havin' A Great Time" band backstage pass. Fans can also follow the tour on the Havin' A Great Time Tour Blog.
Certain venues will also give away free downloadable copies of the Havin' A Great Time mp3 as well as copies of the lead sheet so kids can play it at home.
About the Jessica Prouty Band: This teen band was in the top ten for the national Little Steven's Underground Garage/Teen Vogue Battle of the female-fronted bands, a two-time finalist at the WBCN/Berklee Battle of the High School Bands, a winner at the Center for the Performing Arts in Natick Rock Showdown, and the recipient of multiple scholarships from the Berklee College of Music Summer Program. Their music has been played on WBCN, WAAF, and 92.5 The River in the Boston market. In addition, they are on this season of Community Auditions on TV in New England.
